Photos and newspaper drafts
The editor keeps photo data and newspaper drafts in this browser’s local storage database. An account does not provide cloud backup or synchronization. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to open these drafts. Clearing browser data can remove them. Export a PDF if you want a separate copy.
Photo information
When available, capture date, camera settings and GPS metadata are read locally from the original file. Raw GPS coordinates are not sent to the AI writing service or automatically printed. A place name you manually enter can appear in your newspaper. You can choose whether selected date, place and camera details are included as context for AI writing.
Optional AI writing
When you request AI writing, compressed photo previews, your writing instructions and selected text are sent through LayoutFern’s server to Alibaba Cloud’s model service. Original full-size photos are not sent to that service. The provider processes those inputs to generate a draft. Do not include information you do not want the model provider to process. Review generated text before using it.
Accounts and essential cookies
Signing up stores your name, email address, protected login credentials, account records and credit activity on our service. Session cookies keep you signed in. A keyed network identifier is used to limit welcome-credit abuse; the welcome-credit record does not store a raw IP address. Account data and credit balances are separate from your local newspaper drafts.
Payments
When purchases are enabled, Stripe handles checkout and card details. LayoutFern records purchase identifiers, plan, amount, currency, status and credit allocation so it can fulfill and reconcile your purchase. Payment card numbers are entered in Stripe’s checkout, not the newspaper editor.
Infrastructure and deletion
The website and account service run on Cloudflare. Requests can produce operational logs needed to operate and diagnose the service. You can clear local drafts through your browser’s site-data controls; doing so does not delete account or payment records. The current account interface does not yet include an account-deletion tool.
